Isuzu Commercial Trucks

Isuzu is the largest manufacturer of commercial trucks in the World. It is well known for its medium to heavy duty trucks and diesel engines. Most of the 16 million diesel engines are specifically developed for all kinds of commercial vehicles. Amid slow sales in United States, Isuzu has ceased production of cars and SUVs, but it is still very profitable in producing large vehicles and pickups. Its commercial line of heavy duty vehicles include light, medium and heavy chassis trucks as well as growing numbers of buses. Elf, Forward and Giga are three distinct types of Isuzu trucks. In United States, H-Series heavy duty commercial trucks are exclusively produced for North American markets.

Elf Type

Isuzu Elf is a light duty N-series truck which uses Aisin AW450-43LE gasoline engine with four speed automatic transmission. More powerful 5 or 6 speed manual transmission is also available. These new models are stylish and functional. Isuzu Elf models are mostly operational in Japan, Indonesia, Philippines, Mexico, United States and Canada.

Forward Type

Medium duty trucks, Forward, are also known by F-series in other countries. These come in cab-cover design and are either 2 or 4 wheel drive. One of the distinguishing features of these trucks is quick assembly. They can be assembled off-site in just two days. In fact, such unusual assembly regularly takes place in Chile and some other South American countries. Depending on the market, Forward series trucks are offered in manual, semi-automatic and automatic transmissions. These trucks are mostly manufactured for Japanese and Australian markets. In Australia, large numbers of Isuzu F-series trucks are tailor-made for law enforcement, fire brigade and medical units.

Giga Type

The largest of these trucks are Giga which can also be recognized by C or E class. This is the most popular model and is widely deployed in many countries. The Giga models are tailor-made for practical use and may not contain as many amenities as offered by competition.

H Type

In collaboration with General Motors, Isuzu has also developed a distinct brand of commercial trucks, H-series. In America, these are mostly known as Chevrolet Kodiak. These medium duty trucks are also sold in Columbia and Mexico. H type, third generation trucks, utilize powerful 6.6L V8 Diesel or 7.8L I6 Diesel engines which are equipped with 5, 6, 9 or 10 speed manual transmissions. Automatic transmission is also available. The newest version of US presidential state car also derives its specifications from Isuzu inspired GMC topkick chassis.
